Old novel upload: Schlo: What a Schlo is, a glimpse at their origins and what they are like:: an introduction

Hello! I'm finally uploading the novel that I self-published in 2017. I have a couple of different things to say about it.

I started working on Schlo in 2010 and always imagined publishing a series of book on the story. I wrote a comprehensive manuscript for my first novel in 2015 in the points of view of Drey and Zenith. It wasn't meant to be seen by the eyes of others and so I started writing a new version (the one that I am uploading) which I wrote starting in the summer of 2017. After writing it and going through as much of the writing process as I could on my own, I hired an editor to offer suggestions on how to make the novel better. I seemed to have deceived the editor in some way, as she was shocked by the contents and just really did not like anything about the book, which makes sense. It's an unpleasant book. Looking back, I always feel bad for whatever sort of miscommunication there was on my end about what sort of book it was. I thought that she wouldn't even want to be credited, she disliked it so much.

There was a lot wrong in the release of the book, overall. I didn't have any sort of way to publicize the release, so it got no traction whatsoever.

I couldn't even market it on places that would distribute amazon books because I had two back-to-back colons in the title and an underscore in my name. I got criticized by people for the dumbest issues with the book, such as adding a trigger warning to the description. It sold so few copies and I was just overall embarrassed about it, so I made it unavailable for sale after a couple months, I think. 

I uploaded the book in chapters onto Wattpad and was met with a ton of criticism. Everyone really hated it. I'd ask for reviews and people would reply with things like "what is this?" instead of a multi-paragraph technical review that they were offering to other authors. I deleted it from Wattpad rather quickly and started working on my first visual novel, "what is schlo?", which is based on events of the book.

Due to so many negative experiences, I do not think back on this release fondly. I own a couple of physical copies of the book and I haven't touched them in years. I had an alright time skimming through it and reformatting it over the past week. It's not a good book. It's definitely cringeworthy at parts, all of my writing has always been that way. My writing style was influenced by "boyxboy" stories that people used to upload on the site "quizilla". I never wanted to get good at writing, but wanted to write in that style. Maybe by those standards, it's a good story. I'm not sure.
